We have lost a truly good man. Too know him was to love him, a man with an eye for detail, an ear that always listened, and mouth quick with good jokes. A style and grace we admired and respected. He would give you the shirt off his back and did on a number of occasions. One of the first to offer help and last to leave one in need. We, The Star Riders will never let this light go out, He will be remembered and his presents felt every time we ride. Let us look to heaven on our future journeys and know that Curtis is looking down with that infectious smile and saying-

was one of the nicest and funniest men we ever met. We not only loved riding
with him, but just sitting and talking and enjoying a cold one together. This

cannot express how I feel right now. Curtis joined the Brazos River Chapter
today on our ride. He was the last one to show up just in time for our prayer.
He told me he got here just in time for the best part.
My prayers go out to his family and to all his brothers and sisters who new
him and rode with him. He was a super nice guy and I am proud to have known
him.

On
August 15th, 2004, I learned a lot about what kind of person Curtis Miller
was.
It was the day of the "Itch Ride". There was no SCRC chapter ride
scheduled, so I planned a route up around north, and then down the east side
of town to the Monument Inn -- ferry ride included.
As we were riding up Cypress Rosehill road, my bike started stalling out.
I pulled over, and after a few minutes, it was running OK again, so we continued.
When we got over on Hwy 242, it stalled and bogged a couple more times.
By the time we were headed down FM-2100, it was stalling out to the point
that I felt I couldn't continue as Ride Leader, so I appointed Tail Gunner
Mike Hanlen as Ride Leader, and asked my wing man, Larry Wallace to fill in
as Tail Gunner. I told Mike to take the group straight down FM-2100, cross
onthe ferry, and the Monument Inn would be immediately on the left.
I planned to try to slowly limp home with my poorly running bike. As the other
riders were leaving, Curtis pulled in behind my bike and said, "I'm staying
with you". He wouldn't listen to my protests that he should go on with
the group.
We got a little way down FM-2100 and pulled into a gas station where we could
stop under a shade tree. Curtis took his tool kit out, and we began to remove
the gas tank from my bike to see what we could do.
We verified the operation of the vacuum-controlled petcock. Yep, fuel flowed
thru the petcock OK when the engine was running, so what was the problem?
I had recently changed my inline fuel filter. The Concours is not factory-equipped
with an inline filter, but I had use the one that was commonly recommended
on the Concours forum.
We dinked around doing this and that. Finally, Curtis got on his bike and
went down the road to find an auto parts store to get more fuel line and another
fuel filter. He offered to let me take his bike, but I didn't feel comfortable
being responsible for someone else's bike.
After he got back, we put the bike back together and eased on down the road.
We stopped again when the bike started stalling. In Crowley, we stopped in
front of a bank and took the top-end off the bike again. After fiddling with
it a while, we went on a ways until we got off the freeway way out on the
east side of Houston. Another parts store stop, and another roadside wrenching
session . . .
I don't remember how many times we stopped on the side of the road, but Curtis
stayed with me ALL afternoon until we reached the junction of I-10 and Beltway
8 onthe west side of Houston. I was about 2 miles from my house. He swung
off onto the Beltway ramp, waved, and went on his way. I got home to figure
the problem out.
In the time since then, I had the pleasure of spending many enjoyable times
in the company of Curtis. You can't hang around a guy like Curtis and not
grow to love him. Curtis appreciated people and the good times he shared with
them. Curtis also had a great sense of humour, as evidenced by his frequent
question regarding the steel ball bearings in his pocket: "Have you ever
seen a man with three balls?"
I thought about Curtis the other day, since it had been a while since I last
saw him. I missed him. I'll miss him a lot more now.
Go in peace, Curtis. You lived well while you were with us, and we appreciate
you.

will be greatly missed. One of the bright Star has fallen. My prayers are
with Curtis's family and all of his friends. No one know when they will be
called home. We are tought that life is only temporary and that after life
is the better place and should be joyful but damn it hurts! Curtis, we love

had only gotten to know Curtis in the last few weeks on a couple of outings
and it was a privledge to share the road with him on our ride today. As I
got to know a little about him, I can see how he will be missed by his close
friends.

so very sad at this moment. I am saddened for him, for his family and for
us, Star Riders, but I'm more saddened that I didn't tell him this week that
I'm thinking about him and that I love him. He is a very special person and
I feel that this loss is too large. I looked forward to each of his calls,
jokes and smiles --- I'm wondering how we will do without. I will miss him
very much.

truly lost one of are Stars in this Club. He joked and teased and was alot
of fun for all of us. I just cant believe it! My heart goes out to his family,

Most
of the Star Riders have known Curtis longer than I have. But for the short
time I have known him, (About a Year) I have considered him as a friend.
The last time I rode with him was in Bandera, Texas on the weekend of March
24, 2006.
The first time I met Curtis, I thought he was kinda of cocky and rude. I found
that his cockiness was a real gusto for life, I was wrong about the rudeness.
I will always remember him as a fun loving caring guy. He was always great
to be around. My rides will not be the same without him.
I'm deeply saddened and I will miss him.

here on Lake Palestine in Shady Acres, near Tyler who knew and loved Curtis
will miss him. We were all deeply saddened to hear the tragic news. I will
personally remember Curtis because he was always there to step forward when
anyone needed help. In fact, all the Miller family have these characteristics....We
will miss him.

know your mechanic is one of the most trustworthy people in your life if you
call him a big brother to your cars. It didn't matter if I came to see Curtis
once a year, or every month...it's like the conversation just picked up where
we left off. He was always very
genuine and inquisitive about how I was doing. I loved the sincerity in his
eyes and compassion for life with a bit of salt and pepper
